To increase performance and avoid the risk of injury, it is important to choose the right running shoe based on your foot type. The general design of running shoes revolves around pronation, which is how the ankle rolls from outside to inside when the foot strikes the ground.

  • Neutral runners are able to choose from a wide variety of shoes, including minimalist shoes or even go barefoot
  • Runners who overpronate, or experience an over-abundance of ankle rolling, should choose shoes that provide extra motion control and stability
  • Runners who underpronate, or supinate, have feet that have high arches and lack flexibility, preventing shock absorption. They require shoes with more flexibility and cushion

High heels are an undeniable staple in any woman’s closet. Despite being an uncomfortable and often painful shoe to wear, there are certain tips women can follow to wear high heels without suffering too much pain. Choose a style of shoe that minimizes friction as much as possible, such as a pair styled with straps or buckles. Be sure to break in or stretch your heels at home to ensure that your feet are comfortable the day you intend to wear the heels. Shop for shoes at night, as the feet gradually swell throughout the day. Another option is putting some lotion on your feet to lubricate the skin and avoid friction.

Patients in the Northeast Colorado area interested in diabetic foot care benefited from a webinar broadcasted at the end of October. The webinar was fourth in a series of diabetes related webinars. These webinars have been allowing people to learn about a plethora of topics while interacting live with the professionals presenting the information.
